According to Salesforce’s Ethical Leadership and Business report, 93% of consumers say that companies have a responsibility to look beyond profit and make a positive impact on the world.
What we do to help the cause
Now, every business needs to play an active role in moving the needle on critical societal issues, such as diversity, equity, and sustainability. As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility effort, we at BrightGen strive to help raise money for important causes, organise charity events, and work to minimise our carbon footprint.
Sponsoring Touch Rugby to help vulnerable young people
In July, #TeamBrightGen attended an annual mixed touch rugby tournament at Honourable Artillery Company, organised by The Harlequins Rugby Union Foundation and LSEG. Great fun for a great cause: all funds raised went towards The Harlequins Foundation: Building Brighter Futures – a foundation helping vulnerable young people in our community.
Find out more about the foundation here.
Fundraising for Samaritans
For the month of April, BrightGen walked, ran and cycled 11,612.3 km to raise £1161.23 for Samaritans. Why the specific number? We wanted to raise awareness of the Samaritans helpline: 116 123.
We’re proud to report that we not only hit our fundraising target, we surpassed it! And we smashed the walking target too – by over 1000KM!
Reducing our carbon footprint
When Salesforce released Net Zero Cloud, BrightGen was one of the first companies to invest in the tool. We tested our own fast-start implementation package that we created for customers on ourselves. Net Zero Cloud allows us to visualise our carbon footprint holistically, looking into our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. This will enable us to set Science-Based Targets going forward to reduce our carbon footprint within a number of years.
We make every effort to ensure that all BrightGen branded merchandise is made sustainably and using eco-friendly materials. Sustainable branded T-Shirts for employees that we wore at various events this summer were printed using water-based inks and made with eco-friendly threads. And our company business cards are produced using eco-friendly ink, recycled paper, and printed sustainably. We’re grateful to Sustainable Print and I Dress Myself for providing their services.
As another part of our sustainability effort, we planted a tree for every guest and attendee in a series of sustainability-related events we’ve held for our customers across the last year.
Helping #TeamBrightGen give back
We are absolutely amazed by the generosity of our team members and are happy to help amplify their appeals and celebrate their successes in volunteering or fundraising.
Sponsoring Team Wild Waves – Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge 2021
In December 2021, BrightGen was proud to be a sponsor for one of our amazing consultants, Jess Oliver, to row the Atlantic! Together with her friend Charlotte, the pair covered almost 3000 miles in a 2-rower boat – in a bid to raise £100,000 for Shelter and Women’s Aid.
Taking work sabbaticals to complete the race, Jess and Charlotte reached the other side of the Atlantic after only 45 days – five days faster than the World Record for the Fastest Women’s Pair! And they raised nearly £100,000 for Shelter and Women’s Aid charities. Find out more and watch their video here.
