Famous Five from Summer ‘23 Salesforce Release

It may not feel like it to those of us in the UK, but Summer is finally here – the Summer ‘23 release of Salesforce that is, which hit production over the weekends of June 2nd and 9th.

As is traditional, Credera ran another of our world-famous release webinars, featuring analysis and comment along with details of the new features. Head over to our releases playlist to watch the recording. And don’t forget to subscribe to our Youtube channel

If you don’t have time, here are our Famous Five:

Field Level Security in Permission Sets Generally Available

For a number of years, we’ve had the guidance that permission sets are the future and here’s a tangible example. When creating a new field through the Salesforce UI, you can choose to manage access through the available permission sets rather than profiles. A real time saver for those of us that have already made the switch.

Tabs Component support in Lightning App Pages

Tabs are an incredibly useful component in a lightning record home page – a way of segmenting the data that you want to display without losing the drag and drop capability of the builder. In Summer ‘23 this component is now available for App pages.

Schedule Knowledge Article Publish Time

A small change, but an important one if you are trying to choreograph a new product or feature launch. Rather than hoping everyone can hit publish when they are supposed to, you can simply schedule your new content for publication and leave it for Salesforce to take care of.

Pipeline Inspection

Pipeline inspection provides a consolidated view of key metrics, recent changes and activity details, helping you to focus on closing the key deals. This is now available in Salesforce Enterprise Edition with a Sales Cloud license – no need for any add-on licenses. Even better, this rolled out in March 2023 so it’s already there!

Mobile App Plus

This one does require an additional license, but it’s well worth it as custom offline functionality is finally available. Offline Lightning Web Components can access and update records while disconnected, syncing up with Salesforce when the device is back online.

And because we always like to include a beta feature…

Mass Quick Actions

The beginning of support for one of the most sought after features that I can remember – the ability to configure mass actions from related lists and list views. Currently limited to Create and Edit Record actions, this could retire an enormous amount of custom code in the future.

If you’d like to find out more about these and many other features, watch the webinar on demand or subscribe to our Youtube channel!
